Over in Griffith they have apparently been having a debate over the intention to move an adult bookshop into the CBD area of the city. According to our local Advertiser, the Baptist Church amongst others has taken part in a petition and lobby to stop the shop from being put into the CBD, where it is seen to be more public and morally dangerous.

Interestingly the paper claims that “the Council says morality can’t be taken into it”. Whether this is accurate reporting or not I do not know, but it certainly reflects the moral attitude of some today.

Many people simply think, ‘each to his own’. How is such a thing possible? We are community creatures from birth till death.  A child soaks up his or her environment every day. So does an adult.

The old adage ‘you are what you eat’ also applies to what we deliberately allow ourselves to experience. The choices we make affect us and the next generation. Morals should and must be taken into account in all parts of life.
