Encounter With the Gibeonites

Having entered the promised land (Christ), Joshua builds an altar (the Cross), and the blessings and cursings are read at Mt. Gerizim and Mt. Ebal respectively. Then the Gibeonites, among the people to be utterly destroyed, deceive Joshua and the princes of Israel, preserving themselves from destruction, because of their fear of the Yahweh the God of Israel. As ever the Spirit of the Lord speaks to us in our day in this historical event.
