Ethnicity and Works

Despite the broad and deep and eternal provision of God for the nation of Israel, all included in their promised Messiah, when He finally appeared they rejected Him and put Him to death. Nevertheless, Paul assures us that God's purpose according to His Word has not failed to achieve what He has aimed for: children of His own in the fulness of His provision in His Son. In revealing this Paul rules out both ethnicity (biological descent from Abraham), and works (adherence to the Mosaic legal code), apart from faith in the resurrected Messiah, as having any place in becoming the children of God.
