As Paul the apostle addresses the position of Israel after the flesh in his letter to the Roman church, he dismisses both ethnicity, and works, as grounds for favour with God. He does this by demonstrating that from the days of Jesus' incarnation, death, resurrection, and the sending of the Holy Spirit, all of God's dealings with Israel and the Gentiles upon the basis of the Hebrew scriptures find their fulfilment in Christ. In this message we begin to consider something of this fulfilment in Christ as prophesied, though the prism of God's sovereignty, by Hosea.
